Building Healthy Relationships: Alberta’s Bullying Prevention Strategy Think Tank – June 11, 2012 Part 3 Speakers: 1. Sue Hopgood, Using Restorative Practices to Prevent and Resolve Bullying Behaviours Panel Discussion 3 – a focus on populations impacted by bullying 2. Dr. Kris Wells – Researcher, Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services, University of Alberta 3. Dr. Gloria Gutman – Gerontology, Simon Fraser University Participants at this event dialogued with experts and colleagues about best and most promising practices related to the prevention of bullying and how to work toward a future without bullying. Participant involvement provided valuable input into the development of a revitalized provincial strategy for bullying prevention. The objectives of the Think Tank were to: • Deepen and enhance collective knowledge on the issue of prevention of bullying by providing information on best and most promising practices provincially, nationally and internationally; • Provide a solutions-focused view of the actions most likely to impact the prevention of bullying; and • Build relationships among key stakeholders and experts involved in bullying prevention. The first day focused on the sharing of information from invited experts. The second day involved smaller groups and focused on the specific application of what was learned to Alberta`s Bullying Prevention Strategy.
