Missing and Murdered Aboriginal Women in Alberta with Tracey Makokis

Alberta Justice and Solicitor General Victim’s Services has been involved in a federally funded, two-year research initiative regarding missing and murdered Aboriginal women in Alberta. This is in recognition that Aboriginal women are significantly over represented among those missing and murdered. This session will examine what factors contribute to that over representation and what strategies could be put in place to mitigate these factors. The information and support needs of families dealing with the loss of a loved one to homicide and/or going missing will be identified and participants will be provided with a resource inventory of what is available in Alberta and across Canada.
