About the Role:

As Director of Business & Fund Development, you’ll lead and integrate our business development, fundraising, and communications portfolios—strengthening our brand, building strategic relationships, and securing the funding and contracts needed to support our mission. You’ll collaborate with an incredible team and report directly to the President & CEO, playing a vital role in shaping the future of PolicyWise.

This is a strategic leadership opportunity for someone who wants to drive sustainable growth and inspire system-level change.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and lead diverse strategies in business development and fundraising, securing donations and new contracts to support the organization’s mission and long-term success
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with funders, policy leaders, and community partners through authentic engagement and storytelling
  • Oversee and elevate all communications efforts to increase brand awareness, showcase impact, and support external engagement
  • Build and coach a talented team across business development activities, fundraising, and communications functions, fostering a high-performing and inclusive culture
  • Serve on the Senior Leadership Team, shaping the long-term sustainability of PolicyWise

Show Us This on Your Resume — and Bring It to Life in the Interview:

  • A deep passion for children, youth, families, and community well-being, and a desire to influence the systems and policies that shape lives.
  • A strong track record of leadership—10+ years in senior roles focused on fundraising, business development, or external relations, ideally in mission-driven or social impact settings.
  • Proven results in revenue generation, including closing major gifts, securing new clients, and building successful multi-sector partnerships that have supported meaningful change.
  • Experience leading and inspiring teams, with a demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion woven into how you work.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills—you know how to build trust, tell a compelling story, and influence a range of stakeholders.
  • The ability to think big and execute well—you’re comfortable moving between strategic planning and hands-on implementation as needed.

Why Join Us?
