Dr. Bruce Chorpita: A Demonstration of the PracticeWise Tool

This workshop will provide an overview of innovative approaches to evidence-based practice based upon improvements in knowledge management frameworks, with a specific emphasis on depression in adolescents. The course will outline how basic clinical decision models can be mapped and their component decisions informed by the best available evidence. Tools for distilling and representing multiple forms of clinically relevant evidence will be demonstrated, and the supportive evidence for these improved models will be presented. Learning Objectives Attendees will be able to: • recite the multiple forms of evidence relevant to clinical decision making • describe practice elements distilled from the treatment literature, including those specific to depression. • explain the relative advantages of a knowledge-management framework for the application of science to practice and in the development of clinical pathways
