PolicyWise for Children & Families welcomes new Board Directors at our AGM each fall.
Each Board Director brings a distinct voice, grounded in lived experience and a shared commitment to equity, effective social policy and practice, and community well-being.
Board Directors appointed in 2026
This year the Board focused its recruitment on those with experience in digital fluency (such as AI experience), academia (including post-secondary students), and business development. After reviewing many impressive applications and interviewing several interesting candidates, the Board recommended the following four individuals to be appointed in September 2026:
Madina Ahmed is a youth-focused professional with experience supporting children, youth, and families across community, health care, and educational settings. She currently works with BGC Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton & Area while completing her Masters in Counselling Psychology.
Dr. Sue Grundy specializes in translating complex information into actionable insights that support organizational effectiveness and evidence-informed decision-making. She is the Director of Strategic Planning, Analytics, and Reporting at Lethbridge Polytechnic and a member of their Senior Leadership Team.
Raza Hussain leads transformational change initiatives focused on strategy execution, digital transformation, governance, workforce modernization, and organizational effectiveness. He is the Director of Transformation at NAIT, where he oversees NAIT’s transformation management office that leads strategic enterprise initiatives to support institutional effectiveness and long-term organizational impact.
Sarah MacKinnon has a particular interest in using evaluation, evidence, and lived experience to strengthen programs, demonstrate impact, and improve outcomes for young people and families. She is Vice President of Youth, Family, and Community Programs at BGC Okanagan and is completing a Post-Graduate Certificate in Social Program Evaluation.
