PolicyWise for Children & Families is partnering with Statistics Canada to present a two-part training series for non-profit organizations on developing the use of Census data to enhance information gathering and decision making.
Sessions will take place on Wednesday, May 24 and Monday, June 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. MDT.
Attend both sessions, and you will be given a certificate of completion.
Space is limited to 30 participants.
Over the two sessions, you will learn about:
- Census Methodology and Access – Exploring Statistics Canada’s methodology, navigating their website, and completing a case study on how to use Census data.
- Geography and Confidentiality – Discovering the different levels of geography available in the Census, from provinces and territories to a single city, and handling data confidentiality.
- Census Concepts and Variables – Understanding Census data concepts, variables, reference materials, and how to access tables and data profiles.
- Data Products and Analysis – Introducing Statistics Canada’s multi-variable cross-tabulations available on Statistics Canada’s website and the Beyond 20/20 data browser to view and manipulate data tables.
Time will be given to cover topics relevant to your non-profit’s interests and data needs.
You will also put what you learned into practice through collaborative exercises using Census data to make informed, evidence-based decisions.
