PolicyWise is exploring solutions to the gendered impact of COVID-19 on the Alberta workforce.
The pandemic has amplified economic and labour inequalities for women and gender-diverse folks. Racialized women, newcomers, mothers, and young women and gender-diverse people are most impacted. A targeted approach to recovery efforts is required.
Our aim is to identify solutions to improve the economic security and prosperity of all women, girls, and gender-diverse peoples in Alberta. Through enhanced networks, engagement, and collaboration, we’re accelerating systemic change. This three-year project is funded by Feminist Response and Recovery Fund through Women and Gender Equality Canada.
With this project, PolicyWise is promoting a gender-based, equitable recovery to COVID-19. We're specifically:
- Addressing gender-based discrimination in legislation, policies, and/or practices that prevent full social, political, and social participation.
- Designing and implementing policies and practices to increase women's opportunities and participation in the labour force.
- Targeting intersectional barriers to equality through the design and implementation of community-based approaches.
- Engaging diverse groups of women / girls with lived expertise to influence pandemic recovery responses.
- Conducting a comprehensive study of the gendered impact of COVID-19 on the Alberta workforce.
