Empowering providers serving gender-diverse youth

A new initiative by PolicyWise for Children & Families providing evidence-based information on gender-diverse youth

Over the past year, there has been an increasing number of legislative announcements across Canada about the health and well-being of gender-diverse youth.

These announcements have prompted a demand for evidence-based information on how best to support these youth, their families, and communities. In particular, those working in the social, education, and public sectors are looking for research and resources to guide their work.

Recognizing this need for research and resources, we at PolicyWise for Children & Families are proud to launch our new initiative, “Empowering providers serving gender-diverse youth.”

This initiative builds on work we have been doing for 20 years. We are known for providing research, resources, and evidence-based information to support the social-serving sector so that they can make wise decisions. By providing the sector with the data and knowledge they need, we are contributing to a world where children, youth, families, and communities thrive.

Our initiative has two distinct activities. First, we will explore potential gaps in information that may help those in the social, education, and public sectors whose work focuses on the health and well-being of gender-diverse youth. This activity is in its early days. We will share the outcomes of this work as we complete it.

Second, we will provide resources from trusted sources for social-serving providers whose clients include gender-diverse youth through our Resources for Practice website. This website shares a curated collection of resources from PolicyWise and other social-serving organizations. These resources are freely available for any organization to use and share.

As part of the launch of this new initiative, we are sharing four resources from the following organizations:
